Torfaen Youth Forum

The Torfaen Youth Forum offers young people the chance to tell the council about issues that are important to them, and to contribute to decisions the council makes.
The forum is open to young people aged between 11 and 18 who live in Torfaen.
It meets once a month during the school term.
Members are recruited once a year through schools, youth clubs and community groups.
The Torfaen Youth Forum’s priorities for 2025- 26 are mental health and wellbeing.
- We will help increase awareness of the mental health needs for young men
- We will work with schools to reduce waiting times for initial appointments with school councillors
- We will make sure mental health issues are raised in school assemblies and that young people have more influence on how mental health support in schools is provided
- We will help promote mental health helplines
- We will work with health care professionals to produce mental health awareness posters & videos
The forum is committed to working with all young people regardless of gender, faith, race, disability, or sexual orientation.
For information about how the council is supporting young people to have a voice, view the Children and Young People’s Participation Strategy.
