Private Renting

Torfaen offers a good selection of private rented properties.  It can provide more choice, flexibility, and a faster way of moving into a property than social housing.

There are a number of costs that you must consider when renting a property:

  • Rent
  • Council Tax
  • Utilities
  • Other household/living costs

If you are on low income, or struggling to pay your rent or utility bills, you could be eligible for help through Universal Credit or other benefits.

It’s important to plan your budget to help manage your tenancy.  The Money Advice Service’s budget planner can help you.
