Public Weighbridge Operators Certificate - Applying for a Certificate of Competency

 
Licence summary To operate a public weighbridge, you require a certificate of competence issued by the Chief Inspector for Weights and Measures for your local authority.
Eligibility Criteria

You must have sufficient knowledge for the proper performance of your duties.

 

Note: Certificates of competency are not transferable to another person and are only valid for the specific weighbridge for which the applicant was tested.

Application Evaluation Process

No provision in legislation.

The Authority will evaluate an applicants knowledge and performance by a combination of an oral question-and-answer procedure as well as practical tests on the equipment concerned.

Will Tacit Consent Apply? No. It is in the public interest that the authority must process your application before it can be granted. If you have not heard from the local authority within a reasonable period, please contact it.

To apply for a public weighbridge operator's certificate, contact the Local Authority providing details of your full name, the address of the business where the weighbridge is located and a contact email address and telephone number.

 

Arrangements will then be made for the applicant to take an informal test. Successful applicants will be issued with a Public Weighbridge Operators Certificate.
