Torfaen Council has received notification that drivers for the largest bus operator in the UK will strike for three weeks due to a dispute over pay.

Staff at Stagecoach's Cwmbran, Brynmawr and Blackwood depots are set to take action throughout October and November.

This will affect local bus services and home-to-school contracts provided by Stagecoach in Torfaen.

The industrial action is set to start on the 19th October and will continue on various dates up to and including the 13th November.

The dates Stagecoach drivers will strike are:

  • From 2am on 19 October to 1.59am on the 26 October
  • From 2am on 29 October to 1.59am on the 31 October
  • From 2am on 1 November to 1.59am on the 10 November
  • From 2am on 12 November to 1.59am on the 13 November

The council have received assurances that the 435 pupils that are transported to school by Stagecoach in South Wales on home-to-school contracts will continue to be transported throughout the affected period.

However, the situation remains fluid and could change at short notice.

Pupils who are not in receipt of free home-to-school transport and pay to use Stagecoach buses to travel to and from school or college are advised to make alternative arrangements for this period.
