Cwmbran Boating Lake tree felling update

Posted on: Friday 5 March 2021

As tree felling and chipping continues at the Boating Lake, the Council would like to remind residents that the playground continues to be closed. The lake and the car park will also be closed from Sunday 7th March.

During the first week of tree felling, there were incidents of people breaking through the fencing to access the park, which is incredibly dangerous. New fencing has been installed, and we would appreciate it if residents stayed away from the area for their own safety.

The work was anticipated to have been completed by Friday 12th March, however due to a number of unforeseen factors, it will take longer to complete. After the contractors have completed their work on Saturday night they will be able to assess how long the remaining work will take to complete.

We will provide ongoing updates as work continues to keep residents informed of when the Boating Lake is likely to reopen.

We appreciate that closing the Boating Lake for longer than anticipated is disappointing especially as a lot of people are using the area for daily exercise during the level 4 lockdown. However, with work such as this, unforeseen delays can occur which are out of the Council’s control.
