Around 1000 primary school children have been learning about road safety, dangers of grass fires, and food hygiene as part of their preparations for secondary school.
Presentations from the Council’s Road Safety Officer, Network Rail, the Food Standards Agency and others, were streamed to classrooms delivering vital health and safety messages.
Councillor Mandy Owen, Executive Member for the Environment, said: “Crucial Crew is a vital event and is very popular with schools and our partners.
“It gives organisations the opportunity to reach a huge number of children over a few weeks to deliver incredibly important messages.”
Miss Wilkinson, Teacher, Pontnewydd Primary School, said: “Crucial Crew is a fun and engaging event for young children.
“It provides them with key safety information to use in their daily lives, something that is essential at this time of year as they are gaining independence and moving on to high school. A key part of the Year 6 curriculum!."
The information from the various agencies is vital for Year 6 pupils as they become more responsible for their own wellbeing and safety as they move up to secondary school.
