Today (15/09/2020), Torfaen councillors approved a report which outlined a £240,000 spend of capital funding from the Council’s current Capital Programme to support site safety improvements at Greenmeadow Community Farm.
The funding will be used to deliver essential capital maintenance and remedial work to ensure the farm is a safe site and to ensure current services remain possible.
An additional £15,000 from revenue reserves for small scale enhancements at the site has also been approved.
All works will be targeted for completion by February 2021.
Executive Member for Children, Families & Communities, Councillor Fiona Cross said, 'Over the past year or so work has been done to investigate alternative operating models for Greenmeadow Community Farm to find a viable way to continue to offer this facility within a reduced subsidy from the Council’s budget.
Capital investment is vitally important in ensuring the long-term sustainability of the farm and this decision to grant these additional funds today will undoubtedly support our endeavour to offer a more innovative and imaginative design at the farm.'
