During the Christmas and New Year period the amount of waste and recycling created by households increased significantly, and we are still in the process of collecting it.
Our collection crews are working hard, and we would like to thank residents for their patience during this busy time.
We would also like to thank residents for recycling as much as they could over the Christmas and New Year period.
Purple lidded bin waste
Purple lidded bin collections are back to normal, and all households should have received a collection since the changes after the Christmas and New Year’s bank holidays.
We don’t return to collect missed purple lidded bins, so residents are being advised to complete the online missed bin form here and wait for their next scheduled collection.
We appreciate that due to the collections running late recycling containers will be full. Collection crews will take extra recycling which has been put out in carrier bags (no black bags) if they can see the contents of the bag. So please make sure that bags aren’t tied with knots.
If we haven’t collected any recycling from your property yet please leave it outside and we will collect it as soon as possible.
Don’t forget that by squashing your plastic bottles etc and flattening/folding your cardboard you can fit in more recycling in your boxes and bags.
If you have your own transportation and can't wait until your next collection date then you can recycle a wide range of items at the Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) in New Inn. Take a look at our latest press release on how to make your visit to the HWRC successful.
For any items which are too good to throw away it recycle, don’t forget there is now a Re-Use shop located near the entrance of the HWRC which takes a wide variety of items.
