This week, Torfaen’s Year 12 and Year 13 learners have been celebrating their examination results, which sets them on the path to an exciting future, either at university, college or in the workplace.
In these extraordinary times, Torfaen’s secondary schools have achieved the results that will enable students to progress into their next stage of life and school staff are helping pupils to gain entry to their preferred higher education courses.
Cllr Richard Clark, Executive Member for Education said: ‘In this extraordinary year I would like to congratulate all learners on their exam results and the hard work they put to achieve these results. The effort that pupils put in before our schools closed should not be underestimated and I wish all our young people every success on their next steps.
‘Once again there have been some truly outstanding individual performances with Torfaen pupils heading off to some of the top universities in the world to continue their studies.
‘From speaking to students, it is always heart-warming to witness their vitality and positivity as they prepare for their next step. This has been a worrying and anxious time for many young people but it is also an exciting time. For anyone still unsure of their grades or next steps, there is extensive advice and support within schools and an enormous range of opportunities to continue learning across the region and further afield.’
‘I must thank all our school staff for their commitment and thank families who play a vital role in supporting and encouraging their children throughout their education.’
