Torfaen Libraries is extending its ‘Request & Collect’ service.  From Monday 17th August, the successful service which has been operating from Cwmbran Library will be extended to Pontypool and Blaenavon Libraries to make  it even easier for residents to request and borrow books.

Library members will be able to arrange a time slot to pick up books from Pontypool Library on Wednesdays and Fridays (between 10am-3pm) and Saturday mornings (between 9am-1pm), and from Blaenavon Library on Tuesdays and Thursdays (between 10am-3pm).

Councillor Joanne Gauden, executive member for economy, skills and regeneration, said: “Being able to offer the ‘Request and Collect’ service from our other libraries (when we launch in a couple of weeks) in the borough is great news.

“To date 769 customers have requested 6,720 books which is fantastic. The service has been running really well out of Cwmbran Library, however we are hoping that even more residents will take up the offer when the service launches in Blaenavon and Pontypool.

“Don’t forget, that if you’re not entirely sure about what book you want, ask the library service to choose a few for you. As long as they know a genre you like they can choose for you.”

If you would like to request specific titles, please take a look at the online library catalogue to browse books available, before requesting your books.

All requests for this service will still be taken at Cwmbran Library (by calling 01633 647676 or emailing Cwmbran.library@torfaen.gov.uk, but your order will be passed to the relevant library to process. A member of the library staff will then contact you to arrange a pick up date and time for you to collect your books.
