When you are out and about taking your daily exercise, and getting some well-deserved fresh air, we are asking residents to help us by taking their litter home and report any fly-tipping they see.
Due to the ongoing circumstances, our staff are being redeployed to help crucial front line staff, such as the waste and recycling collection crews, to ensure they can socially distance themselves and carry out their duties safely. Therefore, there will be less staff available to empty litter bins and litter pick.
Councillor Mandy Owen, executive member for the environment, said: “We know we are asking a lot from residents at the moment, but these really are unprecedented and challenging times.
“We are trying to maintain critical services as best as we can, whilst looking after the health and safety of our staff.
“We want Torfaen to stay as clean and green as possible during the pandemic, but we will need your help with this. By taking any rubbish home and using your kerbside recycling service as much as you can, you are freeing up staff time so they can make sure critical services continue to run.”
“We would like to thank everyone for their patience during this time.”
