The Older People’s Commissioner for Wales has today (22/10/2019) launched the #EndingAgeism campaign.
Ageism and age discrimination underpin many of the issues and challenges faced by older people. Ageism results in older people being treated unfairly and their rights not being respected and upheld, impacting upon their health, well-being, independence and quality of life.
Yet, despite its prevalence, ageism and its impact are often overlooked or ignored by society. This has to change.
That’s why the Commissioner is launching a new campaign - #EverydayAgeism - to raise awareness of the scale and impact of the ageism faced by older people every single day, to challenge ageism and age discrimination, and to empower older people to do the same.

Executive Member for Adult Services & Housing, Councillor David Daniels said, “ Torfaen Council will be following this campaign with interest and plan to explore these issues with our 50+ Forums and other groups over the next year.
It will help us understand what we need to do to change attitudes and challenge the myths and assumptions about older people that fuel ageism.
If you would like to be involved in these discussions, please get in touch so that we can let you know about opportunities to share your thoughts and experiences.”
