People have their say in Residents Survey

Posted on: Wednesday 17 October 2018

More than half of Torfaen residents have rated the quality of public services in the borough as good.

Over 1200 people completed the residents’ survey during August and September giving their views on key council services and wellbeing issues in the borough.

  • 56 per cent of people agreed the quality of public services is good, while 54 per cent were satisfied with the quality of council services. The survey showed 61 per cent of people felt well informed about council services, but just 27 per cent felt they could influence decisions in their local area.
  • Just 31 per cent of people felt their local area was free from litter and rubbish and 38 per cent felt their local area was well maintained while 68 per cent of people were satisfied with the council’s recycling service.
  • 82 per cent said they felt safe when out and about in their community in the day, dropping to 45 per cent in the night.

The results will now be analysed in more detail to look at issues in specific areas of the borough and the findings presented to councillors.

Councillor Anthony Hunt, leader of the council, said: “I’d like to thank the residents who spared the time to give us their views. It’s now up to us as councillors to act upon what we’ve been told and continue to do all we can to provide people with the Torfaen with the best possible services.”
