Christmas can be a magical time of the year for children and families and this year Nant Celyn Primary School have been focusing on Christmas being a time for giving.
Following a successful harvest festival collection for the Eastern Valley Foodbank, the children, families and staff of Nant Celyn decided that they would like to extend the support and donate Christmas fare to help support families in crisis and extend the gift of giving at Christmas time.
Following an appeal, a substantial amount of food and gifts have been collected and Nant Celyn hope the donations will bring joy to families in Torfaen over the Christmas holidays.
Jonathan Bussy, Head Teacher at Nant Celyn said: "We were delighted to once again support the Eastern Valley Foodbank at Harvest Festival and we are grateful to Louise from the Foodbank for coming into school to explain why the children’s donations were so important. Whilst at the school, Louise mentioned their Christmas appeal and we couldn’t help but get involved. The support has again been amazing from staff, pupils, parents and the wider school community."
Louise Ingle at Eastern Valley Foodbank commended the school by saying: "We are so thankful to the staff, pupils and parents at Nant Celyn for their generosity in donating Christmas food and gifts to the Eastern Valley Food bank, all of which will make such a massive difference to families throughout Torfaen who are in crisis situations this Christmas time."
