Market Position Statements
Market Position Statements (MPS) are strategic documents designed to inform and facilitate the social care provider market. They outline the Councils future commissioning intentions for purchasing social care services.
MPS enable providers to position themselves to respond to the Council’s intentions as a commissioner/facilitator of services, and our vision for how services might change in response to the Social Services and Well Being (Wales) Act.
We have developed Market Position Statements for both Adults and Children & Family Services for the period 2013 – 2018, which follow on from the previous Joint Health and Social Care Commissioning Strategies that were developed for 2008 – 2013. Recommended templates from the Institute of Public Care (Oxford Brookes University) and the Social Services Improvement Agency were used when developing our statements.
The role of Local Authorities is evolving, making us facilitators of the market rather than simply purchasers of services.
People interested in local business development and social enterprises can read about new opportunities in the market and tell us what would help them enter the social care market and offer innovative services.
Social care providers and organisations not currently active in Torfaen can find opportunities to use their capacity and skills to benefit local people and develop their business in Torfaen, creating jobs for local people.
