Fish fingers with mashed potato, beans or seasonal vegetables
Why we chose this dish
Our Pupils’ Choice
“This is my choice because it’s yummy” Alicia, Blenheim Rd Primary
“I love this, it tastes really nice” Carys, Padre Pio
“I like the fish because the outside is crunchy” Noah, Padre Pio
Our Dietitian’s Choice
“Fish is a high protein, low fat food, and a good source of vitamins and minerals. For this reason, we are recommended to eat 2 portions of fish every week. School lunches help our pupils to meet this target by including fish on every week’s menu. Our cod fish fingers are breaded, not battered, and are oven baked on site to limit fat and saturated fat intake. As always, 2 portions of veg are served to make it easier to meet those 5 a Day targets. In addition, as part of our commitments to our environmental responsibilities, we only use fish that is MSC certified, so allowing pupils to tuck in knowing that they are helping protect our oceans, livelihoods and fish stock of the future.”
