Rural Development Plan 2007 - 2013
The Rural Development Plan (RDP) 2007-2013 provided over £795 million in funding, including £195 million from the EU’s European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD). The RDP comprised funding from four separate funding streams:
Axis 1: Improving the competitiveness of the agricultural and forestry sectors and is administered by the Welsh Government
Axis 2: Improving and conserving our environment and countryside, via farmers and landowners and also administered by the Welsh Government
Axis 3: Improving the quality of life in rural areas and diversifying the rural economy
Axis 4: Developing the LEADER approach i.e. community involvement in improving and/or developing their communities
Local authorities were responsible for delivering Axis 3 and Axis 4 funding, and in 2007-2013 Torfaen had 7 eligible rural wards which benefitted from RDP funding:
- Llanyrafon South
- Llantarnam
- Two Locks & Henllys
- Cwmynyscoy
- Wainfelin
