EU Programmes 2007-2013

For the programming period 2007–2013, West Wales and the Valleys region qualified for the highest level of European Structural Funds support through the Convergence Programmes.

The Convergence Programmes focussed on creating sustainable jobs and economic growth in line with the European Union’s Cohesion Policy and the subsequent policies and strategies of the Welsh Government. There was a greater strategic approach to the delivery of funds through this programming round, with fewer, more strategic projects. This approach helped ensure less duplication of activities and maximised available resources to benefit the people, businesses, communities and environment of Wales.

In Torfaen EU funds supported growth and jobs, creating sustainable economic, social and environmental benefits for people, businesses and communities.
