Introduction to Child Psychology

Classroom Based Learning

This course will introduce you to the many interesting topics regarding child psychology. You will study the work of eminent child psychologists and learn the ways in which their theories try to explain how development is shaped by looking at cognitive, social and environmental aspects. This course is non-accredited, there is no qualification and no requirement to complete assignments or essays. Subjects include:

• Jean Piaget’s Theory of Cognitive Development
• Vygotsky and Erikson’s Sociocultural Theories
• The Montessori Method of Teaching
• John Bowlby – Maternal Deprivation
• Behaviour Management Systems
• Emotional Intelligence
