Local Businesses Offering Delivery Services
In addition to the larger supermarkets, a number of Torfaen grocery and food businesses are open and are offering a delivery service to vulnerable residents or those self-isolating during the coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic. A list of Local Businesses Offering Delivery Services can be found here.
Advice for Businesses
Following their announcement of a £200 million package of support for businesses on 17 March, the Welsh Government has now announced that they will be providing almost £1.4 billion of support for businesses during this difficult period.
All retail, leisure and hospitality businesses will receive 100% non-domestic rates relief in 2020-21.
In addition to this enhanced retail, leisure and hospitality relief scheme, £850m will be available for a new grant scheme for businesses.
All businesses currently eligible for Small Business Rates Relief – those with a rateable value up to £12,000 – will receive a grant of £10,000. Retail, leisure and hospitality businesses with a rateable value between £12,001 and £51,000 will receive a grant of £25,000.
They are also establishing a hardship fund to provide targeted support for certain other businesses.

Business Rates Grant
Welsh Government have announced a package of support worth £1.4bn for small businesses to help them during the coronavirus outbreak. This is being administered through Local Authorities business rates system.
Complete the Business Rates Grant (COVID-19) form to allow us to collate all requests and to consider if it is appropriate to award the grant.
UK Government Coronavirus Business Support Finder
The UK Gov have launched a new ‘support finder’ tool which will help businesses and self-employed people across the UK to quickly and easily determine what financial support is available to them during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The finder tool on GOV.UK will ask business owners to fill out a simple online questionnaire, which can take minutes to complete, and they will then be directed to a list of all the financial support they may be eligible for.

Food Delivery and Takeaway Guidance
Following the new Government restrictions placed on public houses, restaurants, cafes etc. during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic you may look to change the way your business operates and diversify, for example, by considering advertising and providing food from your normal menu or new dishes for delivery or takeaway.
The Directors of Public Protection Wales Food Safety Expert Panel have produced a Food Delivery and Takeaway Guidance document which provides advice and guidance to help you stay within the law.
Local Land Charges
Due to the Coronavirus outbreak with immediate effect the Local Land Charges Team will no longer be able to accept hard copy search applications. Please will you forward your requests to the firstname.lastname@example.org following which a member of the Team will contact you for card payment. We and other departments will do our best but please be aware that turnaround times are likely to be slower for the foreseeable future.
