Coronavirus Updates - Bins and Recycling
Last updated Tuesday 21 April 2020 at 09:25
Waste and Recycling Collections
All purple lidded bins, recycling, food waste and cardboard collections are currently running as normal.
Green bin collections have been suspended until further notice. Reduced price composters are available to purchase.
If someone in your household is showing symptoms of the Coronavirus, please double bag any waste and put aside for 72 hours (3 days) before putting it out for the next collection date.
Our recycling collection crews need your help
To reduce the amount of recycling being handled by the crews, we would be grateful if residents could separate out their recycling as much as possible.
For those who have more than one black box, one could be used for plastics, and one could be used for glass for example. This action would really make a difference to the crews and would help speed up the service as well.
We appreciate your help and understanding during this difficult time
Please do not put any tissues, kitchen roll, toilet paper or wipes in your black box for recycling. These materials cannot be recycled and are a risk to the health of our staff. These items need to go in with other black bag waste.
If you are showing Coronavirus symptoms please follow government advice on how to dispose of tissues and wipes.
Thank you for your patience during this unprecedented time. We are monitoring the situation daily, and will continue to provide service updates.
Household Waste Recycling Centre
The Household Waste Recycling Centre is closed until further notice.
Re-Use Shop, New Inn
The Re-Use Shop located next to the Household Waste Recycling Centre in New Inn is closed until further notice.
Bulky Household Item Collections
The council is suspending its bulky waste collection due to the need to prioritise our waste collection services. We will therefore not be taking any bookings for collections until further notice.
Any collections which were booked but were unable to be collected will be refunded.
We apologise for any inconvenience and will resume the service as soon as possible.
