Torfaen People's Panel - Letting people lead the way
What is the Torfaen People's Panel?
The Torfaen People’s Panel gives local people the opportunity to shape the way public services are delivered in the borough.
The Well-being of Future Generations Act 2015 acknowledges citizen involvement, or engagement, as being central to the design and delivery of public services, and Torfaen council’s third Corporate Plan sets out how the council intends to work together with communities to create an improved, more equal and sustainable future for the people of Torfaen.
Torfaen Public Services Board was established in 2016 under the Well-being of Future Generations Act, to bring together public services and improve the social, economic, environmental and cultural well-being of the area.
What do Panel members do?
Panel members can choose their own level of involvement, and can support the work of the council and its partners in the Public Services Board in a number of ways. It will be up to panel members to decide what to participate in.
Panel members can choose to:
- Contribute to consultations
- Attend focus/discussion groups
- Work with organisations to shape policies and service delivery
- Comment on policies
- Comment on strategies
- Become involved in the council’s scrutiny processes
Who sits on the Panel?
The Torfaen People's Panel is made up of residents from a range of ages and backgrounds from across the borough, and aims to broadly represent Torfaen's population in terms of gender, ethnicity and geography.
Why should you join?
As a member of Torfaen People's Panel you will have the opportunity to tell decision makers about your experiences of living in Torfaen and what you expect from local public services. You will be able to inform decisions made by the council, and its partners in the Public Services Board.
How do I join?
We want as many people as possible to take part in the Torfaen People's Panel. If you are interested in joining the Panel, you can register to become a member of the Torfaen People's Panel here.
