Torfaen County Borough Council ceased to offer a pest control treatment service to residents from 30 June 2016. The service was withdrawn as part of the council’s budget saving measures for 2016/17 and is expected to save about £37,400 annually.
From 1 July 2016, residents will need to contact a private pest control company for problems with rats, mice, bedbugs or cockroaches.
Advice on dealing with different kinds of pests and finding a local pest control company is available on the British Pest Control Association website.
The council will continue to provide a commercial contract service for local businesses, and will investigate reports from residents on pest infestations from neighbouring properties. For information contact the council’s Public Protection Team on 01633 648009.
There are a number of local pest control companies that can treat pest infestations and problems, and these can be contacted through Yellow Pages and other business directories.
