*Please note that between the 23rd December and 4th January all waste collections will start at 6:00am. As a result all residents need to ensure their waste is placed out before 6:00am on their collection day.

We appreciate that there will be extra waste produced over the festive period, even after residents have recycled as much as they can. So to help manage the extra waste produced, the council will collect up to two extra black bags of rubbish per household on the first purple lidded bin waste collection only after Christmas. Please make sure the bags are placed next to the purple lidded bin.

We will be extremely busy collecting your waste and recycling during the Christmas and new Year period so we would like to advise residents to leave their bins, boxes and bags out until they have been emptied. We will try and collect on residents allocated days, however if any bins are missed we will be back to collect it.

Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) opening times
The HWRC will be closed on Christmas Day 25th December, Boxing Day 26th December and New Year’s Day 1st January.

Van permit scheme
If you are planning to bring waste in a van to the Household Waste Recycling Centre between Friday 27th December and Tuesday 7th January 2020, please make sure you have a valid permit which includes a description of the waste you intend to bring in.

If you apply for a permit over this period please remember that permits will not be issued until the 2 January 2020.

Apply for your permit here http://bit.ly/38niXF4

Please note: the site is open every day during the Christmas and new Year period apart from Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

Re-Use shop opening times
The Re-Use shop will be open on Christmas Eve 8am - 4pm and will then be closed for the remainder of the Christmas period. The shop will re-open Thursday 2nd January 2020

Christmas tree recycling
If you have a real Christmas tree, once it’s come to the end of its life it can be taken to the Household Waste Recycling Centre to be shredded and used as compost.

Wrapping paper
Unfortunately we can’t accept wrapping paper in the black box for recycling so please place it in your purple lidded bin.

Christmas Cards
Christmas cards can be put in your blue cardboard bag for recycling.
