Torfaen schools affected by industrial action

A number of Torfaen schools will be affected on Wednesday, by industrial action organised by the NUT union.

The teachers’ strike is part of a dispute over pay, pensions and conditions.

The following schools have confirmed if they will be open or shut:

  • Abersychan comprehensive – closed to KS3, open to KS4
  • Coed Eva primary – partly open
  • Croesyceiliog comprehensive – closed to years 7-11, open to 6th form
  • Cwmffrwdoer primary – open
  • Fairwater high – open
  • George Street primary – partly open (all KS2 and one foundation phase class closed)
  • Greenmeadow primary – partly open
  • Griffithstown primary – closed
  • Kemys Fawr infants – open
  • Llantarnam primary – open (except for reception)
  • Llanyrafon primary – open
  • Maendy primary – open
  • Nant Celyn primary – open (except one foundation phase class and one KS2 class)
  • New Inn primary – open (except one reception, one year-2 and one year-4 class)
  • Our Lady of the Angels RC – partly open
  • Penygarn community primary – closed
  • Ponthir primary – partly open
  • Pontnewydd primary – party open (seven of 16 classes closed)
  • Pontnewynydd primary – closed
  • Pontymoile primary – open to mainstream pupils (SNRB closed)
  • West Monmouth comprehensive – open
  • Woodlands primary – partly open (two classes closed)
  • Ysgol Bryn Onnen – open
  • Ysgol Gyfun Gwynllyw – closed to years 7-10, open tp years 11-13
  • Ysgol Panteg – open

The remaining schools have yet to inform Torfaen council.
