School Admissions - Secondary School

Children normally transfer from primary to secondary school at the start of the school year in which their twelfth birthday falls (i.e. 1 September to 31 August inclusive).

You may be aware that for September 2013 the Authority trialled an online admission application process for one of Torfaen’s secondary schools which proved to be a huge success and was subsequently rolled out to all Torfaen schools last year.

If you are a Torfaen resident and your Year 6 child(ren) currently attends a Torfaen Primary School you will receive a letter containing a UID (Unique Identification Number) which will allow you to apply on line by clicking on the Online Admission Form link with effect from Monday 13th October 2014.

If you do not wish to apply on line you can download a copy of the Secondary School Admission Form or contact Kath Worwood on 01495 766915.

If you are not a Torfaen resident you will be required to contact your Home Authority to seek advice on how to apply.

The closing date for September 2015 secondary school admissions is Monday 1st December 2014 at midday (12pm).

If however you wish for your child to attend a Voluntary Aided School, you will need to contact the school direct for the necessary admission arrangements.

Full details of the Authority’s Admission arrangements and related issues such as the provision of school transport can be found in the Schools Information Booklet .
