Skip Permits

If you wish to have a builder’s skip or container located on the public highway, it is essential that the skip or container be covered by a permit.

However, it is not necessary for you to apply for the licence. The skip company from whom you hire your skip will do this on your behalf.

Skip contents

Skips placed on the road must not contain any flammable, explosive, toxic or other dangerous materials or anything which is likely to cause a danger to road users or members of the public.

Emptying skips

All materials placed in skips must be properly disposed of. Full skips must be removed immediately from the public highway or at the discretion of the Highway Authority.
