Description
Supporting People is a new government funding framework which commenced on 1st April 2003. It focuses on the delivery of supported housing and housing-related support services, enabling people to achieve their potential to live independently.
Examples of the type of support funded through Supporting People are:

Help in setting up and maintaining a home

Help in establishing personal safety and security (including alarm systems)

Emotional support, and advice

Supervision and monitoring of health and well-being

Help in developing social skills and managing behaviour

Assistance with money matters benefit claims & resettlement support

Advice, advocacy and liaison with statutory agencies

Assistance for young care leavers, homeless people and those leaving institutions

Helping people prepare for greater independence through training in basic life skills
Who is the service for?
The Supporting People team deals directly with local housing-related support providers, advice agencies and planning groups. Service users should contact local housing support schemes directly.
