Description

Torfaen Register Office takes Notices of Marriage for those couples living in the Torfaen area, whether they are to marry at a register office, hotel or church/chapel. (Notices are not taken for Church of England or Church in Wales, please contact the Vicar concerned).

Civil marriage ceremonies are celebrated at Torfaen Register Office or approved premises, where different types of service can be offered, tailored to the couples' wishes within the legal requirements.

Who is the service for?

The service is available to

  • Couples living in Torfaen regardless of where they wish to marry.
  • Couples in Torfaen who wish to marry in a church or chapel in Torfaen.
  • Couples in Torfaen who wish to marry at Torfaen Register Office or such approved premises as the Parkway Hotel or the Commodore Hotel both in Cwmbran, or the Millennium Hall at Garndiffaith.

Civil weddings requiring disability access can also take place at the Torfaen Civic Centre, Pontypool.

 

Replacement marriage certificates for ceremonies which have taken place in the Torfaen area can be obtained at The Register office by completing an application confirming identity. The certificate costs £3.50 for current records, or £7.00 for older records which have been passed to the Superintendent Registrar.

How do I access the Service?

To give a notice of marriage, an appointment must be made with Torfaen Register Office. Suitable identity documents are needed - age, UK residency, marital status, name change - to give notice.

 

There is a fee of £33.50 per person to give notice.

 
Fees on the wedding day range from £40.00 - £250.00 depending on the day and venue.
