Description
Torfaen Register Office registers all births in the Torfaen area. For those births outside of Torfaen, a Declaration of the birth is forwarded to the register office in the district where the baby was born.
Babies registered in Torfaen receive a short birth certificate free of charge and an application form to join a doctor's list. A full copy of the birth certificate can be obtained for £3.50.
Who is the service for?
Anybody wishing to register a new birth, including those which occur outside Torfaen, when a declaration can be made.
Anyone wishing to re-register a birth (e.g. after marriage) can also obtain new certificates.
Replacement certificates of births which occurred in Torfaen can be obtained by completing an application confirming identity.
