Description

Adoption

 

Anyone can make an application to adopt, however certain eligibility criteria exists.

 

Adoption is a lifelong commitment which can be rewarding and fulfilling but it can also present challenges. It is about providing a permanent family home for children who for whatever reason are unable to return to their birth family.

 

Adoption is a legal process in which:

  • A child legally becomes the son or daughter of the adopter
  • All rights and responsibilities are transferred to the adoptive parent(s)

Adoption Support Services

 

Those eligible for an assessment of need for adoption support services include:

  • Adoptive parents
  • Children who may be adopted and those have been adopted
  • Prospective Adopters
  • Adopted Adults
  • Birth Parents
  • Birth Siblings (half or full blood)
  • Step Parents
  • Former Guardians
