Description
The Food Health and Safety Team investigates accidents that are reported in respect of any work places in the Torfaen area where we enforce health and safety law.
Many accidents are 'reportable', and employers are required to report these accidents and to provide certain information. The Commercial Services team are then informed of any reported accidents in the Torfaen area, and we will use a decision making process to decide which accidents need to be investigated.
Accidents which lead to a significant injury, or which could have caused serious injury or death will generally be investigated so that we can make sure that health and safety law is being complied with and that further accidents will be prevented wherever possible. In serious cases where the law has been flouted, we may decide to prosecute.
Who is the service for?
The service is available to all businesses in Torfaen falling to this authority for enforcement, and those who are employed or visit these premises and suffer an injury.
