Description
All adults should be able to live free from fear or harm and have their rights and choices respected.
Some people may be less able to protect themselves; this may be due to mental health problems, illness, age, or disability. Some people may find it difficult to make their wishes and feelings known. This can make people more vulnerable to abuse. Abuse of a vulnerable adult can take many forms and can be a single act or repeated acts against the individual.
You may be unhappy about the way someone is treating you or someone you know and need help to stop it happening.
You may be concerned about adult abuse because someone has told you something; or you have seen or heard something that makes you feel uncomfortable or uneasy about the care of a friend, relative or neighbour.
We have a dedicated adult protection team, which ensures that all our staff are aware of the protection of vulnerable adults’ procedures. An ongoing training programme is also offered to care providers in Torfaen.
