Library open longer
Pontypool library has extended its opening hours on Tuesdays and Saturdays. It is now open on Tuesdays until 7pm, and opens on Saturday at 9am. Almost 70,000 visits were made to the library last year and the new hours will make it easier for more people to see what is on offer. As well as a wide selection of books, Torfaen Library and Information Service also offers a varied choice of CDs and DVDs, and free Internet access.
Councillor Neil Lewis, Executive Member for Regeneration, said: "We need to ensure libraries are open at the times that people are able to use them, and increasingly this is in the evenings, or at weekends."
The library is now open: Tuesday 9.30am-7pm; Wednesday 9.30am-5.30pm; Thursday 9.30am-7pm; Friday 9.30am-5.30pm; Saturday 9am-4pm.
