Requesting access into Pontypool Park

A new barrier will be installed at the bridge into Pontypool Park and main entrance to Pontypool Active Living Centre from mid-May (exact date to be confirmed) to improve safety and prevent abuse of disabled parking bays.

Torfaen council says the barrier will stop unauthorised motorists from using the disabled spaces, and will help to improve safety for pedestrians using the park and the Active Living Centre.

Only disabled motorists who display a valid blue badge parking permit will be able to pass through the barrier and they must display the badge while parked in the bays.

To boost security and safety and prevent unauthorised vehicular access into the park, all locks will be changed to all gates into the park.

Any authorised motorists entering the park area must display a valid permit, keep to the 5mph speed limit, turn on hazard warning lights when moving and be vigilant of pedestrians, children and animals.
