A Sweet Obscurity

Front cover of A Sweet Obscurity by Patrick GaleA Sweet Obscurity by Patrick Gale

At nine years old, Dido has never known what it’s like to be part of a proper family. Eliza, the clever but hopeless aunt who has brought her up, can’t give her the normal childhood she craves. Eliza’s ex, Giles, wants Dido back in his life, but his girlfriend Julia has other ideas. Then an unexpected new love interest for Eliza causes all four to re-evaluate everything and sets in motion a chain of events which threatens to change all their lives.

Moving between London and Cornwall, A Sweet Obscurity is an intensely felt examination of the steps to which we will go to find somewhere we can call home.

Reviews

"A really lovely read and very descriptive writing: I felt as if I was in Cornwall! I enjoyed the story line very much and the many varied characters. I will definitely look for more books by this author."

"Found this book rather long-winded. The main plot and characters provided a good story on their own, but, the background of musical history did not interest me."

"Quite a good book, though the first few chapters were hard to get into."
