If you own a property which is in serious disrepair, you may be able to get help from your local Council to meet all or part of the costs of the work.
Torfaen Renovation Grants are discretionary grants which are available to owners of property in Torfaen subject to there being sufficient funding available to the Council.
These grants are means tested and subject to the Council’s priority assessment system for enquirers.
Only properties that are over 20 years old will be considered.
As a general rule owners will need to have lived in and owned their property for at least 3 years prior to being eligible for assistance. There are some exceptions to this requirement e.g. first time purchasers and properties in our renewal areas.
The maximum grant limit is £20,000 and applicants will be required to abide by certain conditions which include that they live in their properties for a minimum of 5 years after the completion of grant aided work. Different conditions apply to landlords who apply for grant assistance and in their case the conditions will apply for a minimum of 7 years.
