In July 2003 the Council adopted and published new policies in relation to the provision of housing grant assistance in Torfaen. Under these there are three types of housing grants available, subject to funding. These are:-
i) Torfaen Renovation Grants – for the improvement and/or repair of houses or flats the conversion of properties into houses or flats for letting.
ii) Group Repair Grants – under which the local Council undertakes repair works to groups of houses (available only in renewal areas)
iii) Disabled Facilities Grants – to help adapt homes for disabled people (also available to Council tenants)
