Tenant Participation
Tenant participation is about tenants getting involved in the services we provide.
We encourage tenants to get involved by joining our Tenant Compacts. These are groups of tenants that volunteer to get involved with decisions that affect their homes.
Authority Wide and Local Neighbourhood Compacts
There are two types of Compacts – Authority Wide and Local Neighbourhood.
Local Neighbourhood
These may deal with issues of particular interest to tenants or be based on their estates or in their community. Through Local Neighbourhood Compacts, tenants could have a significant role and impact on improving wider community conditions.
Within Torfaen we currently have 5 Tenant Compact Groups – Blaenavon, Mid Torfaen, Pontypool, Cwmbran North and Cwmbran South West.
Authority Wide
These will ensure that tenants are able to influence decisions about policies and procedures. This is important as local decisions will often flow from those that affect all tenants.
What is a Tenant Participation Compact?
This is an agreement between a Local Authority and their tenants. It sets out how tenants will be involved in the decisions that affect their homes.
Why is a Compact needed?
It will give you more say in how the Council manages your home. Torfaen County Borough Council wants tenants to have a say in how they are involved and consulted.
Paying for Compacts and Tenant Participation
Torfaen County Borough Council funds the Compacts and any out of pocket expenses compact members may incur.
