Homelessness
The homelessness service provides comprehensive housing advice to all individuals who are either homeless or threatened with homelessness. Individuals may, depending on an assessment carried out by a member of the Homelessness Team, qualify for temporary accommodation if required and may then later qualify for permanent accommodation after the completion of full enquiries into the reasons for their homelessness.
Individuals under the age of 18 will be referred to Social Services in order to assess their specific needs and requirements.
All assessments are carried out in line with current housing legislation as set out by the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Act 2002.
The service is available to anyone within Torfaen who is currently homeless or threatened with homelessness. Homelessness and advice surgeries are available throughout the week and are generally by appointment although urgent cases will be seen on that particular day.
