Volunteering in Torfaen

Volunteering describes the activities people choose to do in their spare time, without pay, which benefit other people or contribute to the services or amenities within the community. Volunteers come from all walks of life and are active in almost every aspect of society that you can imagine.

The contribution that people make through their voluntary work is enormous. In Wales almost 80% of people do some form of voluntary work during the course of each year.

What can I do?

There are plenty of volunteering opportunities within Social Care settings.

If you would like to meet new people, develop your personal skills and improve your future job prospects, perhaps volunteering is for you.

Volunteers are linked one-to-one with people with a learning/physical disability, mental health issue, sensory impairment and older persons, who would welcome befriending or support to get out and about. Volunteers can choose from a whole range of leisure or social activities in the community depending on your shared interests.
