The Countryside Team
The Countryside Team is an employment training scheme which gives trainees the chance to develop skills in environmental management, landscape gardening, garden restoration and garden maintenance.
The project encourages trainees to become occupationally competent so that they can enter the job market, with or without continued support. The highest standards of workmanship and customer service are encouraged and the scheme is designed to build trainees’ confidence and social skills.
Trainees will spend most of their time working in the community in Torfaen and neighbouring boroughs.
Who is it for?
The service is for people aged between 18 and 65 with learning disabilities or mental health needs. While people with certain physical disabilities may be able to join the scheme, regrettably, some sites are inaccessible to wheelchair users. Trainees may attend for up to five days a week depending on their assessed needs. Transport is available.
