Foster Care

Foster carers look after other people’s children in their own homes and plan and provide for their care as part of a team consisting of carers, the children's parents and Torfaen Social Care Services, Health and Education.

Foster carers give a child in need a stable family life and a chance to do ordinary, family things.

Foster carers understand that children may need to be fostered for a variety of reasons including family breakdown, illness, abuse or neglect.

Foster carers attempt to help the child understand why they cannot live with their birth families, and support them as they strive to cope with the uncertainties and anxieties which being fostered can bring.
