Disabled Facilities Grants

A Disabled Facilities Grant is a grant administered by the Council for major works; it is available to tenants of the Council or social landlords and to owner occupiers.

These grants are means tested for disabled adults and depending on your financial circumstances the grant may pay for all or some of your costs. There is no means testing if the adaptation is for a disabled child. If you qualify for a Disabled Facilities Grant the grant is based on the value of assessed works; the maximum amount of assistance available is £30,000 which includes all necessary fees and administration costs. If the work costs more than this you will have to pay the difference.

Council and social housing tenants may have adaptations provided by their landlord from other funding sources that do not require means testing or contribution from the tenant.
