Carers assessments

As a carer, you have the right, by law, to an assessment of your ability and willingness to provide, and continue to provide, care.

This is quite separate from the assessment of needs of the person being cared for. It means you are entitled to speak to the person doing the assessment (usually a social worker) on your own and that your views must be listened to.

There should not be an automatic assumption that any carer is willing to continue caring or providing the same level of support.

If you want to know more about carers’ assessments, please contact our Customer Care Centre on 01495 762200.
