Torfaen Business Breakfast: Presentations by Dr Alan Netherwood and Dr Calvin Jones
Greenmeadow Golf Club, Cwmbran 07:45 – 09:30
Peak Oil and Business Continuity in Torfaen - This breakfast will explore peak oil, its implications for energy security and its impact on business in Torfaen, drawing on local, regional and international approaches to forward planning from business, public bodies and partnerships. Key question - how can Torfaen businesses effectively plan for a future where oil production is in decline and energy costs are increasing?
"Success" in a Resource Constrained World - The world is changing. Key natural resources, especially fossil fuels, are becoming more and more difficult to source and hence more expensive, whilst climate change implies a far more uncertain regulatory and natural environment. Meanwhile, international competition from rising Asian states is becoming more fierce, economically and politically. This presentation will investigate the challenges facing organisations in Wales and serve as a starting point for a discussion around how businesses and the public and third sectors can respond to protect the prosperity and welfare of Wales.
