Twin Bin Recycling Scheme
The Twin Bin collection for garden waste and kitchen food scraps will help increase the amount of rubbish we recycle but we need your help!
The scheme will enable us to remove material from your bin that can be made into compost rather than sending it with the rest of your rubbish to a landfill site.
What goes in the green wheelie bin?
The green wheelie bin is for all your green garden waste and kitchen food scraps including meat and cheese. A full list of what can and cannot be placed in the bin| is available to download here.
How does Twin Bin work?
We will collect the green wheelie bin one week followed by the black wheelie bin the next. The black box for recycling will be collected every week.
Week One =

Week Two =

We will also provide a small kitchen bin to make it easier for you to sort your kitchen waste. Empty the contents into newspaper or magazines and double wrap the food before placing it in your green wheelie bin. This will help prevent smells. Do not use plastic bags for your kitchen food scraps as these cannot be composted.
Where does it go?
Your garden waste and kitchen food scraps will be taken to a local in-vessel (high temperature controlled), compost facility where it is made into compost.
When will it start?
The Council will be using a phased approach for the Twin Bin recycling scheme. We will write to you before the scheme starts in your area.
