Refuse Collection
Most households in Torfaen are now receiving the Twin Bin recycling scheme which means that they have their black wheelie bin collected one week followed by their green wheelie bin the next. The green wheelie bin is for garden waste and kitchen food scraps which are sent to be made into compost at our In-Vessel Composting facility. Black boxes for dry recycling are collected every week.
For areas not yet receiving this service (mainly high rise flats and OAP complexes), we provide a weekly refuse collection for household waste placed in the wheelie bin.
Waste and recycling must be placed at the kerbside by 7:30am on your day of collection unless exceptional arrangements are made.
Missed collections
If your bin was at the collection point by 7.30am on the day of collection however has not been emptied, please let us know immediately by completing the report a Missed Bin / Box Collection online| form and we will make arrangements to collect it as soon as possible.
Is there a collection for furniture?
Torfaen County Borough Council operates a Bulky Collection Service| for larger items of household waste such as furniture and white goods. This service is charged for.
However, we encourage residents to contact our partners Circulate Furniture Recycling (01495 793187) in order to take advantage of a free collection and make your goods available to those in need.
