The Life Station Trevethin

Artists impression of the southwest elevation of the Life Station

The LIFE Station which aims to improve the health and education of the local community opened in April 2010 and a full programme of events was offered.

The Café opened in January 2011 under the direction of Cottage Catering and has been renamed ‘Fresh! The Café at the Life Station’ and all you catering needs can be met by this popular catering firm. The allotments will shortly be developed following the awarding of a grant from the Heads of the Valleys fund which has also allocated a sum of money to extend the car parking facilities but in the mean time the team at the Life Station are developing one of the plots as an organic allotment and we hope to have a variety of fresh vegetables available for tasting as the crops are ready. Any surplus of produce will be available for a nominal sum to pay for more seeds for next year. You can follow our progress on the Torfaen Adult Learning Partnership Facebook page.

What is in the LIFE Station?

  • A computer suite for learning and accessing the Internet.
  • A teaching kitchen, to learn new skills and prepare healthy food.
  • A crèche for those taking part in activities at the centre.
  • A café, to meet friends and have a cup of coffee.
  • Allotments, to learn gardening skills and grow your own vegetables.
  • Rooms which can be used for both social and business.
