The Offices, Shops and Railway Premises Act 1963 aims to protect the health, safety and welfare of people employed to work in offices, shops and certain railway premises.
If an employer intends to employ anyone to work in an office or shop, they are required to notify the enforcing authority beforehand. This is done by completing an OSR1 form and sending to the council. You can download the form below.
The definition of offices & shops includes catering premises open to the public - cafés, restaurants and public houses - and wholesalers.
